Maren Morris Predicts She'll Be A Stricter Parent Than Ryan Hurd

Maren Morris and Ryan Hurd are gearing up to welcome their first child into the world. Ahead of the baby's arrival, Morris is predicting what kind of parent she thinks she and her husband will be. In a recent interview, Morris said that she believes she'll be the stricter parent while she sees Hurd being more laid back.

"I think that I am probably gonna be the rule-setter, and Ryan's gonna be the fun one that they go to, to hang out," Morris shared. "I don't know. I think I'm a little bit of both."

Morris' guess assumes that the two will parent their baby with the same tendencies as they have their two dogs Pancake and June.

"We have two dogs, so I feel like that's our chemistry now," she laughs. "So maybe that will transfer to a kid, a human kid. I have no idea."

Of course, neither Morris or Hurd really know exactly what to expect as this is their first child together. "The thing about being a new parent is you have no context of how you will be with your own," she explains. "It's different from like holding a friend's baby or being around friends' kids, because it's not your 'copy.' So I don't know. I'll tell you in a year."

Hurd previously shared with People how he's been preparing for life as a father for the first time. He says he's started to reach out to friends who are parents already for advice.

"They’re sharing stuff from their experience, and I’m trying to wrap my head around that," Hurd says before adding that he also hopes to get some help from family. "My parents live in Nashville and they have their nursery already set up before we do," he says.

Morris and Hurd recently escaped for a relaxing weekend in rural Tennessee for a "babymoon." The baby boy is expected to arrive in March or April.
